CONNECT 5 – FIVE IN A ROW GAME

Connect 5 is the bigger brother of Connect 4: the board has 9 columns and 7 rows, and you need five in a row to win. Discs still drop to the lowest free space, so every move changes what is possible above it. Play Connect 5 online for free against the computer or with a friend on the same screen.

How to play Connect 5

• Players take turns dropping one disc into a column. The disc falls to the lowest free space.
• Line up five of your discs horizontally, vertically or diagonally to win.
• If the board fills up and nobody has five in a row, the game is a draw.
• Tap a column to drop your disc, or use the arrow keys and Enter. Undo takes back your last move.

Play against the computer or a friend

vs Computer has three levels: Easy is relaxed, Medium thinks a few moves ahead and Hard searches deep. Choose who moves first. In 2 Players mode you and a friend take turns on the same device.

Connect 5 strategy tips

• The middle columns are part of the most lines of five – start there.
• An open four (four in a row with free space at both ends) cannot be stopped. Block open threes before they grow.
• Look for two threats at once: one move that makes two lines of four wins the game.
• Do not fill the space under your opponent’s winning square; make them waste moves instead.
• Long diagonals are easy to overlook on the big board – check them after every move.

Both need five in a row, but in Gomoku you can place a stone on any empty point of a large grid. In Connect 5 your disc always drops to the lowest free space of the column you choose.

Can I play Connect 5 with a friend?

Yes. Choose 2 Players and take turns on the same device. Online play between two devices is not available.
